Welcome
Driving along the Texas coast from Sabine Pass down to Port Isabell,
you'll encounter some of the most interesting coastal scenery in the
United States. Nothing is quite like it. From grassy marshes that disappear
into the bays to white sandy beaches that rise out of the green sea,
the Texas Gulf Coast is a rich blend of colors, open vistas, wildlife,
fishing villages, and major shipping ports. An outdoor photographer's
dream if there ever was one.
Capturing the Image and the Mood
My medium is Photography, both color and black and white. My subjects are predominantly coastal, with a focus on the Texas Gulf Coast, but I also include subjects with urban, architectural, and general interest themes. The scenes I capture are often described as "moody" and "contemplative," which is the feeling I strive for when composing a shot. I make extensive use of a technique I call "solar backlighting," which creates a black & white, semi-silhouette image. With the proper subject and composition, an image captured with the solar backlighting technique can have intense emotional appeal, especially in larger prints. Most of my photographs were taken with conventional "film" using Pentax 35mm equipment, but I have several recent works that were captured using digital equipment. I create most prints myself (up to size 12x16), but I have a commercial printer make larger prints (up to 24x36) under my supervision. The images are matted and framed, and selected prints are numbered. I also offer post cards (5x7) with my photographs on the front.
I invite you to attend an exhibit of my work. I will be exhibiting at the events noted in the left column. Please send an email or call me with your questions, comments, requests, or just a "hello."
